Spring is the Perfect Time to Sell Your Home

by Alisa Coyle

Spring has finally arrived here in Massachusetts, and that can only mean one thing: better weather is finally coming! As we prepare for it to be warmer and for the snow to melt, we also get ready for the real estate market to pick up. Many buyers have been putting off looking at homes during the winter, but they will soon begin to hunt for their dream home – could yours be ‘the one’ for them?

There are many reasons why Spring is the perfect time to have a home on the market. One is this: it is the time that most people start to look in order to purchase and be settled before fall – the start of a new school year. Families with children often want to move in the summer so that their kids’ school schedules aren’t disrupted like they would be in the middle of the year. This means that if you’re looking to sell a home with multiple bedrooms, you shouldn’t wait to list it!

Our experienced real estate professionals can help you with all of the preparations you will need to make in order to list your home as quickly as possible so that you can take advantage of the Spring selling season, like how to stage your home and what simple repairs you can make to ensure that your home is at its best.

If you want your home to be found by these springtime buyers that will soon begin to search for their new home, call Greater Boston Realty. We are a local Roslindale real estate agency, and we will help you list your home so that it’s seen by potential buyers. With this springtime lighting, it will be easy to make your home ‘pop’ in marketing photos! One quick call to 617-469-4040 is all it takes to start the process, so don’t delay.

What is a Walk Score?

by Alisa Coyle

If you’ve ever taken a look at the Greater Boston Realty website’s homepage, you may have noticed that we have the Walk Score listed for three of our most popular neighborhoods: Jamaica Plain, Roslindale, and West Roxbury. These numbers may seem arbitrary at first, but learning how to use them can improve the quality of your Boston home search.

This Walk Score gives a numerical value to the walk ability of a neighborhood. When assigned a number on a scale of 0-100, you can easily see if you will need a car for all errands, or if you don’t need to rely on a car to accomplish your regular shopping trips. For example, Roslindale has a Walk Score of 88, meaning that it is “Very Walkable” and that most errands can be accomplished on foot.

In addition to giving a Walk Score, you can also see a Transit Score and a Bike Score. The Bike Score incorporates whether the area is flat or hilly, as well as the availability of bike lanes and trails. Jamaica Plain has a Bike Score of 91! Transit Scores evaluate public transit based on types of transit lines available, as well as their distance from the neighborhood or address in question.

To learn more about finding a home in a neighborhood that you can walk or bike, or that is close to public transit, just call the real estate experts at Greater Boston Realty – 617-469-4040. We can show you options that will suit your needs when it comes to Walk, Bike, and Transit Scores, and much more!

THE BENEFITS OF HOME AUTOMATION

by Alisa Coyle

People looking to sell their homes often ask what small changes they can make to increase their property value. There are many ways to do so, including old standards like adding a fresh coat of paint and improving the front-facing landscaping. Another great way to increase your home’s value may surprise you – add some elements of home automation.
It seems that everything is getting “smarter” these days, and homes are no exception. Everything has wi-fi, including thermostats, light bulbs, garage doors - even refrigerators! Nowadays, home buyers are more tech-savvy, and they’re looking for homes that are connected to the Internet of Things. If you’re looking to make some upgrades to your home prior to listing it, consider adding a smart thermostat, a wi-fi or Bluetooth door lock, or controllable window shades.
When potential buyers see these technological upgrades, it will differentiate your property from your competition and may even help to sell your home faster. As shown by an article at curbed.com, more than eighty percent of millennials are willing to pay more for a home that has these advanced tech features, and having them pre-installed is always an added bonus in a buyer’s eyes. Your real estate agent will know how to best show off these home automation features’ added benefits, including convenience, safety, energy efficiency, and more.
For additional tips and tricks on how to increase the value of a home in Boston, call Greater Boston Realty at 617-469-4040. We can help find the right buyer for your property, and ensure that your home sells for top dollar.
